CAPTA

Report Suspected Instances of Abuse & Neglect

The Federal Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) mandates that each state establish provisions or procedures for certain individuals, known as mandatory reporters, to report known or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect. Although Children's Ministry volunteers may not be classified as state-mandated reporters, we are expected to act in a similar capacity by promptly reporting any known or suspected incidents of child abuse or neglect.

As a ministry, we have a legal obligation to report any concerns regarding child abuse or neglect as part of our commitment to the safety and well-being of the children in our care. We take this responsibility seriously and require all volunteers to adhere to these reporting requirements. Together, we can create a safe and nurturing environment for our children's ministry.

Big Church Procedures and Policies

Organization Procedures

When a church has policies beyond the local congregation, the Children’s Ministry Coordinator should help teachers understand them and know where to find them. These policies provide a legal foundation and promote a unified culture, allowing local communities to adapt practices while staying aligned with regulations and church standards.
